What should you do 60 days (or less) until the end of the giving year?
Less than sixty days remain in the calendar year, but who is counting?
Less than sixty days are left to mobilize the giving you need this year. What should you focus on?
Have you thanked your donors? Have you reported to your givers the impact of their giving from the past year or previous years?
Reporting is done with both calls and emails.
“Did you have time to look over the latest report I sent? We are so grateful for your giving. We are so thankful for the difference you have been making. I hope you have read this report I sent you because it will give you a glimpse of the tremendous life change we are seeing here in the organization, and we can’t do it without you. We just want you to know how thankful that we are.”
Have you done this for the year?
If you haven’t—do it now.
You also have to be focused on asking.
I hear many people saying, ‘Oh, so I’m working on my annual giving appeal, my year-ending appeal, my year-end appeal letter.’
The year-end appeal is not simply one letter.
I encourage you to send a two-page ask letter after your thank you reporting.
Then, send multiple follow-ups to those who have yet to take action.
Most of your givers are not against giving to your ministry. They are simply too busy to stop and think, pray, and consider the difference they have made, how God has used them, and what they should do next.
You have to prompt them, put it in front of them, and make it necessary.
If asking them to give money is important enough, it is important enough for you to follow up.
Leaders, this is your call to action.
Follow up with as many people as possible before the end of December 31 to challenge them to stop, look, and consider what is happening here and what God can do with their gift to your ministry.
